Centrul medico-social Caritas Moldova

Denumirea completă a proiectului: Sprijin în situații de criză acordat Centrului medico-social socială al Caritas Moldova

Project duration: January to December 2014

Project partner: Caritas Moldova

Project focus: Development and support of social care and healthcare in Moldova, with special regard to people dependent on the help of others.

Aim: Providing quality care to approximately 80 beneficiaries of services of the social-health centre located in the city of Grigorăuca in the north of Moldova.

Target group: 80 persons who need social care and healthcare, namely old and abandoned/lonely people dependent on the help of others, people incapable to take care of themselves once they have returned from hospitalization, people who have undergone surgery, people recovering from cardiovascular diseases or people with mobility impairment, terminally ill patients, and bed-ridden patients.

Country/region: Grigorăuca, Moldova

Description of the project: Caritas Moldova and the National Forum for Community Care have obtained state funds for the operation of their social-health centres in Moldova. However, the funds granted by the government are insufficient. This is the reason why Caritas CR and Diocesan Caritas in Ostrava and Opava have decided to take part in making quality care accessible to people dependent on help of others by providing funding for operation of a Moldovan centre.

The social-health centre, Grigorăuca, is the first centre established by Caritas Moldova that focuses on social and health care services provided to the most vulnerable. Over the ten years of its existence, the centre has helped more than 900 beneficiaries, of whom 90% were bed-ridden. The centre does not help only patients from Grigorăucy. It also serves people from Singerei, Copaceni and Mihailovca.
The centre employs two nurses who provide health care services (injections, medication, bandages), physiotherapy services, massages, and medical aids, and who distribute meals to the patients. The funds granted by Caritas CR were used to pay the salaries of the nurses, of the centre’s coordinator and accountant. Further, they were used to cover services related to the operation of the centre’s premises (water, telephone), to buy petrol to travel by car to households of patients or to buy medical supplies (medication, bandages, disinfection etc.).

Total budget: 23 608 EUR
