Capacity building in developing community care, volunteering and social inclusion

On 12 December 2019, took place the conference "Capacity building in the development of community care, volunteering and social inclusion in the Republic of Moldova", which totaled the results of the project "Support and assistance for the social sector of Moldova 2017-2019", funded by the Czech Agency for Development and implemented by the leading partner Caritas Czech Republic, through AO Pro-Development, together with People in Need and AO Homecare.

The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, the Czech Development Agency, non-governmental organizations, students, as well as medico-social experts. The conference addressed such topics as capacity building in the development of community care in the country and strategies for social inclusion through the organizations that have benefited from grants under the project. Also, the partners of the project presented the final results of the implemented activities.
 
Additionally, the event included 3 thematic workshops on challenges in the development of integrated community home care sector, new opportunities in training of volunteers in the medical-social field and also in promoting social inclusion of disadvantaged people. The "Support and assistance for the social sector of Moldova 2017-2019" project provided a multi-dimensional support to multiple organizations and institutions throughout the country, with the aim of developing a functioning system of decentralised and de-institutionalised service provision, strengthening local service providers and fortifying operational and financial sustainability of home care services sector.
 
It is important to mention that, 24 grants were allocated to NGOs, private sector or local authorities who engaged vulnerable groups in employment, income-generating activities in a way that promotes their social inclusion. Through this action existing resources in the target municipalities were supported, including private actors, to employ vulnerable groups.
 
Also, thanks to the efforts of AO Pro-Development and Union of the Community Service Providers, a new methodology  for calculating the tariffs for home care services has been designed and implemented, which will lead to a greater financial budgetary support for these services.
