Peer supporters are crucial in supporting people with mental health problems, says Inga Cociorva, a peer supporter in Moldova

In Moldova, there is a clear need for the development of social and mental health services to provide proper support and care. Peer supporters are people with personal life experience in mental health who use their own experience to support others with similar conditions. With the support of Caritas Czech Republic, several recovered people have been trained for the role of peer supporter. We spoke to Inga Cociorva, whose own recovery experience led her to become a peer supporter.

19-year-old Tudorița Burduniuc is passionate about medicine and human connections. As a student at the Medical College in Bălți, Moldova, Tudorița goes beyond her medical books and stethoscope, dedicating time for the common good. Together with 80 fellow youths, Tudorița participated in an initiative by Caritas Czech Republic that engaged young individuals in the community and built bridges between generations. She shared with us her motivation for joining this initiative and the experience she gained from interacting with her peers.

Loredana and Nicoleta, two young activists from Moldova, met along a shared journey that led them towards active community involvement.
