Capacity building and financial sustainability in the social home care sector in Moldova

Project duration: April 2023- December 2025

Project goal: The overall goal of the project is to contribute to improving the quality and sustainability of social services in Moldova.

Project partners: NGO "Homecare"

Main activities: 

  • Development of 2 new services, Inter-generational Clubs and Occupational Therapy within 5 existing medical-social home care centres, which are managed by AO Homecare in different parts of the country.
  • Capacity building of social and health workers in the mentioned centres, associations and service providers in organisational development and financial sustainability;
  • Creating partnerships between private and public structures in the home care sector;
  • Strengthening relations between public actors and service providers;
  • -Supporting public institutions in preparing basic policies on the development and financial sustainability of the home care sector;
  • Piloting the training programme on quality service delivery and financial sustainability for social service employees.

Project objectives:

  • Strengthen and expand existing home care services throughout the country;
  • Improve the financial resilience of home and community care services by supporting central and local authorities to implement relevant systemic changes.

Direct and indirect beneficiaries of the project:

  • Elderly people
  • Teenagers
  • Ministry of Labour and Social Protection
  • Ministry of Health
  • National Social Assistance Agency
  • Members of the Union of Community Service Providers
  • 5 medico-social centres through the country and the staff working in these centres
  • 5 Local Public Authorities from the communities participating in the project

  • "Sfanta Iuliana" Center from Dondușeni
  • "Maria Magdalena" Center from Stefan Voda
  • "Sfanta Ana" Center from Ocnita

Budget: 15.000.000 CZK
