Project description: The project focuses on the development of home care in Moldova by strengthening the role and quality of care services in the home and community environment – particularly training the staff responsible and increasing the accessibility and quality of home care services in the regions where such care has until now been least accessible.

As a part of the project, specialised training will be given to medical staff, social workers and volunteers in order to to professionalise their work and to make them fully competent in providing and managing home care services.

The project is aimed at raising awareness about the concept of home care on a local level and supporting the accessibility of basic medical-social services to disadvantaged people. Thus, the project is focused on directly improving the living conditions of socially disadvantaged people in the regions mentioned, with the help of trained staff who arrange quality home care services for people in need.

Caritas CR chose the association “Homecare” as its local partner. It is one of the few respected NGOs providing qualified medical-social services. The organisation was chosen on the grounds of previous successful cooperation on a project aimed at the development of home care services, which was funded by the Czech Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. Thanks to that project, day centres in the towns of Cahul and Drochia were built.
