Campaign against bullying: Caritas Czech Republic and athletes from Moldova unite to combat bullying in schools

Bullying remains a major issue in Moldovan schools and has widespread impact on students - whether as victims, aggressors, or witnesses. Caritas Czech Republic's new initiative in Moldova aims to help reduce bullying in schools across 8 regions of the country. Together with athletes from Moldova's National Sports Federation of Muay Thai Boxing, we have launched a series of information sessions and sports activities in 16 schools. Three athlete-coaches shared their experience working with children affected by bullying, offering valuable insights.

Telemedicine is revolutionising healthcare by using technology to bring medical and care services to those who need them most - such as the elderly people, those with limited mobility, or people living in remote areas. Mihaela and Laurențiu are two young volunteers who have joined the telemedicine initiative run by Caritas Czech Republic in Moldova. Through the volunteer experience, they have not only developed vital skills for the future but also learned the true meaning of empathy, as they gained a deeper understanding of the specific needs of people in vulnerable position.

Caritas Czech Republic in Moldova has launched a new innovative initiative designed to empower students to recognise and combat bullying. The goal is to blend theoretical learning with sports activities to help students effectively respond to bullying situations. Additionally, the teams aim to roll out a national awareness campaign on bullying. Mariana Novac, a project manager at Caritas Czech Republic, shares how leading these initiatives has enriched her life while positively impacting communities across Moldova.

We try to offer enough time for each visit, to listen to people, says Elena Adașan, from Balti, Moldova

In Moldova, the need to develop social services for the elderly people is growing as their population steadily increases. Following the experience of the Czech Republic, Caritas Czech Republic has opened 11 health and social care centres in the country, including one in Balti, led by Elena Adașan. Although it is not an easy job, Elena finds fulfillment in helping people. The centre, together with local authorities, provides essential services for people with physical or mental health issues and those in vulnerable situations.
