At Caritas Czech Republic, we care about our planet. That is why we help protect it in several countries around the world. In Iraq and Zambia, we support farmers in adapting to climate change so that they can continue to grow and harvest successfully. In Moldova and Georgia, we are introducing the benefits of composting, and in Mongolia we are helping to prevent plastic waste from flooding the beautiful countryside. Peer supporters are crucial in supporting people with mental health problems, says Inga Cociorva, a peer supporter in Moldova

In Moldova, there is a clear need for the development of social and mental health services to provide proper support and care. Peer supporters are people with personal life experience in mental health who use their own experience to support others with similar conditions. With the support of Caritas Czech Republic, several recovered people have been trained for the role of peer supporter. We spoke to Inga Cociorva, whose own recovery experience led her to become a peer supporter.

A kindergarten in northern Moldova will use rainwater for household needs with the support of Caritas Czech Republic

Caritas Czech Republic has taken a step towards improving the sustainability and efficiency of water resource usage by introducing an innovative initiative to use rainwater as an alternative water source in Moldova. Throughout the year 2024, a rainwater capture, filtration, and storage system for household use will be constructed in the Albinuța kindergarten in the village of Bilicenii Vechi, Sîngerei district, with the involvement of Czech and national experts.

This year, International Women's Day is about investing in women. Particularly in disadvantaged regions, women need support in the beginning to take their lives into their own hands. Laurinda, Rana and Tamar managed to start their own businesses despite obstacles, prejudice and poor economic conditions. I hope that peace will prevail and we will be able to rebuild our lives, says Sofia, a refugee from Ukraine in Moldova

In the quiet and small Moldovan village of Chirsova, Sofia Dolapci and her three children have found their new home. Sofia’s dream of having her own home and happy family life in Mikolayiv was destroyed by war. Two years later, Sofia remains hesitant to return to Ukraine, fearful of the impact on her children's well-being. She hopes that peace will prevail and her family will be able to move into their new home and rebuild their lives in Ukraine.
