Between April and August 2021, Caritas Czech Republic in Moldova in cooperation with AO “Homecare” and AO “Health and Sport”, will train 160 social assistants and social workers from the left bank of Nistru river who will acquire new skills on delivering long-term care for the elderly and people with special needs.

Caritas is raising awareness about diabetes in Moldova and helps people suffering from the disease

In Moldova, about 60,000 people suffer from type 2 diabetes. However, according to local doctors, the number might be much higher, even double. Due to the absence of a registry for diabetics in Moldova, a large proportion of potentially affected people do not receive any help. Caritas Czech Republic is trying to change that. We raise awareness about diabetes in the country and provide medical services to patients with the disease.

Working with UN agencies means that its partners must meet a number of crucial conditions to be able to carry out the projects. Caritas Czech Republic successfully prequalified for procurement on behalf of UNHCR and also prepared self-assessment of its policies for UNICEF and received the best possible risk level in terms of safeguarding.
