160 social professionals from the left bank of Nistru river trained on long-term care

Between April and August 2021, Caritas Czech Republic in Moldova in cooperation with AO “Homecare” and AO “Health and Sport”, will train 160 social assistants and social workers from the left bank of Nistru river who will acquire new skills on delivering long-term care for the elderly and people with special needs.

How is Caritas reducing its environmental footprint

At Caritas Czech Republic we are oftentimes responding to man-made disasters that are affecting communities in different parts of the world. While wars or inadequate state administration tend to create more visible crisis, a growing number of issues we are facing are related to the environment and its deterioration. We know that if we do not change the way we live and work, the situation will only get worse. Caritas is raising awareness about diabetes in Moldova and helps people suffering from the disease

In Moldova, about 60,000 people suffer from type 2 diabetes. However, according to local doctors, the number might be much higher, even double. Due to the absence of a registry for diabetics in Moldova, a large proportion of potentially affected people do not receive any help. Caritas Czech Republic is trying to change that. We raise awareness about diabetes in the country and provide medical services to patients with the disease.

Caritas gains PQP status from UNHCR and receives a low risk score from UNICEF

Working with UN agencies means that its partners must meet a number of crucial conditions to be able to carry out the projects. Caritas Czech Republic successfully prequalified for procurement on behalf of UNHCR and also prepared self-assessment of its policies for UNICEF and received the best possible risk level in terms of safeguarding.
