Galina is a resilient 70-year-old from Dorotcaia, Dubasari district, Moldova, who has been courageously battling Parkinson's disease for many years now. Living alone since her husband passed away many years ago, Galina has found support through Caritas Czech Republic and AO Homecare. Since 2022, Galina received both medical and social aid from us.

The health and social care sector face a shortage of staff who can provide care for the elderly people and others in need, like 55-year-old Svetlana. Caritas Czech Republic has opened 2 supported housing centres across the country to provide vulnerable people with the care they need.

20-year-old Alexandr, a future medical assistant studying at Bălți College of Medicine in Moldova, dedicates his time as a volunteer at the Rebeca home care centre in Bălți, which was opened by Caritas Czech Republic. Together with other volunteers, he helps elderly people to benefit from remote medical consultations via the telemedicine platform. He shared with us his motivation for joining the programme and how this journey has changed his personal life also.
