In Moldova, we focus on the development of health care, social protection, social inclusion, rural development and environmental protection, as well as humanitarian aid to refugees from Ukraine.

A former pharmacy in Grigoriopol, Moldova, became a warm and welcoming medical-social centre

According to the latest statistics, since 1991, 1.5 million of Moldova's population of about 4 million have emigrated. Moldova still continue to lose 45,000 citizens per year, most of them being economically active young people who is seeking stability and opportunities to build their future. As a result, people dependent of others care, most of them affected by poverty, are left alone, with no access to health and social care.

The years go by, and these people become lonely and in need of help. Varvara Cecoi used to be a lonely senior too, until she received help from Caritas Czech Republic.

Ukrainian refugees in Moldova will receive cards for food and hygiene products

Around 350 refugee families from Ukraine will receive cards worth 1,500 MDL ( around €75) for three consecutive months from Caritas Czech Republic to temporarily ensure their food and hygiene security. The project, funded by Caritas Luxembourg, will give refugees the dignity of choice in meeting their basic needs and help them restore a sense of normality.

Caritas Czech Republic organized an Eco Summer Camp for Moldovan teenagers. They learned how to reuse, reduce and recycle human-made waste, how to be responsible towards our environment and much more. After joining the camp, 30 young Moldovans are now passionate advocates for environmental protection.

How to become a qualified home caregiver: Interview with a member of the Nursing Committee

In Moldova, the number of people requiring long-term care at home is constantly growing. This has increased the need to train specialists who can provide medical and social care at home. Recently, a qualification standard for the profession of “home caregiver” has been approved. Caritas Czech Republic cooperated closely with local authorities and external partners to introduce the new profession of caregiver.
